| Rules meeting:
Mandatory rules meeting will be held at The Matador Supper Club in
Ortonville, MN, on Friday, April 25, 2008. Registration will
begin at 5:00 PM and the meeting will begin at 7:00 PM |
| Eligibility:
Contestants must be 18 or older unless accompanied by an adult |
| Boat Inspection:
All boats will be inspected on the trailer starting at 5:30 AM
Saturday morning at the Riverside Campground. Random boats
will also be inspected on the water during the tournament. |
| Alcohol:
Alcohol is not permitted during tournament hours. |
| Communication and Visual Aid Devices:
CB, marine radios and cell phones will be permitted for emergency
communication only! Transmitting information concerning any
aspect of taking of fish during the tournament is prohibited.
This includes, but is not limited to, verbal communication with
non-tournament anglers and boaters. Binoculars, spotting
scopes, text messaging or other visual aid devices all are
prohibited. Any team caught communicating or using such
devices will be disqualified. |
| Fishing Boundaries:
Fishing boundaries will be all of Big Stone Lake, excluding the
Minnesota River. No boats shall come within 100 feet of
another tournament boat. Hours of fishing will be form 7:00 AM
to 4:00 PM. |
| Inclement Weather:
The BWC Committee has the right to postpone the tournament until
Sunday if weather is deemed unsafe. At any time during the
tournament, a team may go to shore in case of lightning or storms.
In case of inclement weather, early weigh-ins will be allowed, but
the tournament will continue. Once you weight your fish, your
fishing day is done. |
| Late Penalty:
Any teams returning up to 15 minutes late will lose 20% of their
weight and be disqualified for the big fish pot. Any team
returning more than 15 minutes late will be disqualified. It
is not the Tournament Committee's responsibility to assist with
broken down boats during the tournament. Boats that are broke
down may jump in another tournament boat. Tournament anglers
may not get in a non-tournament boat. |
| Weigh-in:
Tournament anglers will be allowed to weigh six walleyes. All
walleyes must measure at least 14" and only two walleyes can be over
20". Anglers must sign their weigh card after their fish are
weighed. Any dispute of total weight will be allowed to
reweigh and that will be the final weight. All tournament
anglers are waiving their right to protest their weight after the
weigh card is signed. |
| Protest. All
protests must be filed within 30 minutes of the end of the weigh-in.
A $100 fee and a written complaint must be turned in to the BWC
Committee. If complaint is valid, the $100 fee will be
refunded. |
| Sportsmanship:
All contestants are expected to conduct themselves in a
sportsmanlike manner. BWC receives the right to disqualify any
person failing to do so and suspend them from future BWC
tournaments. |
| Prizes:
Prizes will be calculated based on total weight. Ties will be
decided by total fish and then by a coin flip. All cash prizes
must be collected at the end of the tournament or they will be
forfeited. In the event of both days cancelled, all prizes
will be given in a random drawing. |
| Entries:
Entries must be completed, signed and mailed, along with payment, to
the BWC address. No hand delivered entries will be accepted.
Entries will be received on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Last year's teams will receive entries by mail before it is opened
to the public. |
| Safety: City
of Ortonville and BWC are not responsible for accidents. All
participants must observe U.S. Coast Guard regulations concerning
safe boating. All participants must be wearing a life jacket
at the start of the tournament. |
| Interpretation of
these rules will be left exclusively tot he BWC Committee. |
